BEDTIME FOR BREAKOUTS

“Bedtime for Breakouts” from Dermalogica claims quick results overnight and leaves skin looking soothed and clear of any redness. I had been on the look out for a good skincare addition to cleanser, toner, and moisturiser for a while and I think it’s fair to say that Bedtime for Breakouts has taken up permanent residence on my bathroom counter. In the full sized bottle comes with 60ml of product which would last forever – there is no need to apply more than a pea sized amount each time you use it otherwise it will result in either oily or dry skin (I experienced both and it was not fun).

When I tried this product for the first time it felt quite sticky and slimy on my hands which didn’t give me the best first impression. However, I immediately thought it smelt great – it doesn’t smell like it’s filled with all kinds of scary chemicals like a lot of other similar skin care products but instead smells clean, fresh, and somewhat marine like.

From previous experience with other products similar to Bedtime for Breakouts, I thought my skin would feel oily and dirty in the morning – or even worse, dry and tight. The morning after, I was surprised when this was not the case and my skin looked soft and clear. After using it for a few weeks I noticed improvement in skin tone, redness and also found that it kept my acne at bay if I used it once a day.

This is due to the fact that it contains salicylic acid as the active ingredient which unclogs the pore, preventing further breakouts. This ingredient is used in many skincare products and is a plant based acid which contains beta hydroxy acid – a key ingredient to open pores and gently exfoliate the skin.

Although, this said, I stopped using the product for a short amount of time and my skin disastrously broke out causing me to run for the concealer wand faster than the speed of light. Currently having a love/hate relationship with the product, I wondered whether I should even go back to using it if this was going to happen again. But, in the true sense I had to see if it really did wonders for my skin and of course, I was proved wrong when my face was clear of any crusty, red sores the next morning and my problems were easily fixed. Bedtime for Breakouts is my current skin saviour and I recommend it to people with all skin types.
